(A.K.A. the story of the ginger people who lived under the lemon sun next to the lemon mountain.)

Back on the 4th of this month, Gia and I decided to make Lemon Ginger Ice. The idea stemmed from the surplus of lemons which we still have haunting our tree out back.

Ingredients

  • 8 medium to large lemons
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 2-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
  • Crushed ice

Prep

Step 1.) Peel lemons.

Step 2.) Juice 'em.

Step 3.) Peel the ginger and chop it up.

Directions

To make the ginger syrup: Combine the sugar, water, and ginger in a pot over medium heat. Gently simmer and stir for 2 minutes until the sugar is dissolved and the ginger fragrant - do not allow the syrup to boil or get dark. Remove from heat, cover, and steep until cool.

To complete your delicious lemon treat: Fill a blender with crushed ice, pour in the lemon juice, add the ginger syrup (remove the big pieces of ginger), and blend until slushy. Freeze for 1 hour or until firm.

Enjoy.

PS - If any of our buddies out there need lemons, we are happy to share!

[ I will explain the title in a moment...]

It's been a while, but it's Gia here again with some updates!

We're all settled into the new house, and getting back to a normal routine. It's been a while since anyone has lived in the downstairs of the house, so the bugs are getting stirred up, ick. Pilate has enjoyed bird watching in the morning, and the afternoon, and the evening, he just gets a little concerned when birds larger than sparrows show up.

We went to the ABC meeting at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club last week, it was beautiful! Flour Power made an amazing cake that we were happy to nibble on.

Oh, and my laptop decided to cut its power source whenever it felt like it, so now I'm working with Barney, my new Macbook. I'm new to the whole Mac thing (I loved my Toshiba Satellites and my e-machines laptops, but they just can't do what I need them to), so Barney and I are working on getting to know each other. I might as well explain why he's named Barney, he's named after Neil Patrick Harris's character Barney on How I Met Your Mother, I even have an NPH wallpaper on the desktop right now.

For those of you who didn't know this, I haven't really watched TV in 3 years or so, and I'm a little behind the curve on TV shows, but I'm catching up! At least I can pick up a season of a show at a time, right now it's between Battlestar Galactica and How I Met Your Mother.

Wow, I sometimes forget how easy it is for me to babble, I think I'll call it good for now and get back to work.

Ciao for now.

<3,
Gia

We have been super busy lately! Between new couples, Gia's resuming college, and moving to our new home, we haven't had the chance to slow down since the new year started!

Mr. Pilate is, of course, exhausted. He's spending his days chasing birds from sun-up to sundown and loving the view from his new digs.

I am super happy, because now I have enough room for all my equipment to run free! No more cramped workspace! It's like when you are young and your parents tell you that your beloved dog was given to a family with a farm, so he will have all sorts of room to run and other dogs to play with. Except, instead of a dog it's my photogear and instead of a farm it's a large devoted studio space. If that doesn't make any sense, it's because I ramble when I am excited, just be assured that I am overjoyed with my new digs.

And Gia... well, she's working on her homework right now, but I know that she's happy to have a real kitchen to cook in. (It's not torture, really, she enjoys cooking!!!) Plus there is no longer any dirty dishes waiting for the dishwasher (me), instead they go into a real dishwasher (Maytag), so that's great. Also, this place runs about 10 degrees warmer than the old digs, which means that even though she runs cold, she isn't dealing with the onset of hypothermia constantly. Also, her desk has been retrieved from storage and filled with all her favorite books again.

In all, cramming a move into our busy schedule was totally worth it. Oh yeah, plus we recently signed a new couple, who said such nice things about our work that I drove Gia crazy repeating all the nice things they said. Even after years of doing photography, I still get all giddy whenever someone stresses how much they love our work.

Anyhow, I am going to stop this ramble and get cozy for the night. Tomorrow I will post about the Lemon Ginger Ice that we made. (A.K.A. the story of the ginger people who lived under the lemon sun next to the lemon mountain.)

Ta-ta!

Love,

Jordan

Since it has been raining lately here in SD, I had the chance to explore some of the new presentation methods for images in the blog.

And just so nobody gets horribly bored, here is a set that has never before been seen.

Please leave us a comment if there's a display format that you would prefer to see us use in the future!

Thanks!

Brenda Swann:

I really want one of those macaroons... you made them look so good!

Jordan:

Ha! Thank you! These macaroons were shot for "The Golden Key Patisserie", eventually they will be part of their website. Consider these pictures sneak previews, since their website is still under construction!

I said "One of us will be back later for a proper entry", but I didn't know that it would take two days.
Sorry about that.

Anyhow, we spent a few hours yesterday with one of our favorite wedding coordinators. Mrs. Brenda Swann of Swann Soirees (and her cool as heck husband!), at the zoo.

By the time we were done there I was famished and ready to get home for some "noms and Tetris". (Yes, lolspeak has invaded my everyday speech.)

I figured a few happy snaps would give me a chance to test out "SlideshareMAX", a new program we picked up for... slideshows.  :)

I'll probably edit this later to include some of my favorite images of the day, but for now you can check out the whole album (if you like) at:
Slideshow name: zoo (all lowercase)

The slideshow still needs to be fully customized. I'll be changing the color scheme as well as uploading our watermark and some other nifty stuff. So please bear with the work in progress.

Love,

Jordan
